Parish Finance Council
The Finance Council assists the pastor in the administration of the temporal goods of the parish in accordance with the applicable regulations, as set out by the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
The Finance Council, through the pastor, is responsible to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of Ottawa in whose name title to diocesan and real property is vested. This accounting is undertaken through the office of the Episcopal Vicar for Administration.
Those who serve on Finance Council:
- attend to the temporal affairs of the parish (including revenues, expenses, loans, investments, bookkeeping, repairs, contracts, employee relations, etc);
- establish, according to principles governing sound administration, the administrative guidelines of the parish;
- prepare and approve the annual budget and publish the latter at the same time as the annual financial report, and inform the greatest possible number of parishioners of the report’s contents; prepare , in accordance with diocesan regulations, the annual financial report to be submitted to the diocesan administration;
- designate one of their members to sit on the Parish Council and, promise before council, to administer the goods of the parish in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Members are elected for an initial term of three years which may be renewed for a second term of three years.
